EU jewelry regulations
The name of the REACH regulation is "Regulations on Registration, Evaluation, Licensing and Restriction of Chemicals". The regulation includes four parts: registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction. From June 1, 2009, the original EU Hazardous Substances Directive 76/769/EEC was replaced by REACH Annex 17. Currently, Annex 17 of the EU Regulation REACH contains more than 60 substances. Regarding jewelry, REACH Annex 17 controlled substances are mainly lead, cadmium, nickel release and phthalates.
